Across EuropeWITH YOUR DREAM CAR

For the ultimate rally road trip across Europe, almost anything goes when it comes to your rally vehicle!

Fans of French or Italian car traditions might go for a Citroën DS or 2CV, Lancia Delta Integrale, Renault R4 or Fiat 500 — perfect for the narrow lanes of the Côte d’Azur and Provence. Those who like it more rugged from the North can grab old-school dream rides like the Mercedes /8, Saab 900, VW Beetle, Audi 100, Ford Granada, or Eastern Bloc all-rounders like the Lada Niva or Trabant — ideal for icy mountain passes and dusty desert tracks.

Cars with character and individuality are the perfect adventure vehicles for this unique challenge.

Only motorhomes and caravans, as well as vehicles originally built solely as motorhomes (e.g. with alcove cabins), are not allowed.

You don’t need to have your vehicle ready when you register. You’ll have time to find your perfect rally ride before the start.

Car Challenge:

We created the Car Challenge to honor teams with real road legends and iconic cars. We know that participants with these old-school vehicles have to master the rally and its challenges under much tougher conditions.

Therefore, the following applies: The older the vehicle, the more points in the Roadbook Competition.

In the Car Challenge, teams with classic & vintage vehicles that are at least 20 years old receive additional points in the Roadbook Competition. Old school is always cool!

How do I get my perfect rally car?

Take a look in your car-crazy Uncle Hans’ garage! And if that dusty old Mercedes S-Class is no longer there, the internet will surely help you out. On the usual used car platforms, you’ll find a wide range of stylish and unique cars, vans, and motorcycles that are perfect for this rally road trip and fully compliant with the European 5000 regulations.

Is it necessary to modify the vehicle?

You can participate in the rally with any normal, roadworthy vehicle—no special modifications are required.

Modifying, upgrading, pimping, lowering, raising... All of this is of course also permitted. So, if you want to spend a lot of money converting your car into the ultimate rally vehicle, you are allowed to do so.
All modifications must of course be road legal and comply with the technical inspection regulations of the country in which the vehicle is registeredd.

What happens to my beloved rally car after I cross the finish line?

That’s entirely up to you! Ideally, you’ll drive home happy and full of adventure — and bring the same ride back next year for your next rally adventure!

Sustainability concept

At all SAC rallies, the preservation and use of young- & oldtimers helps conserve resources and protect cultural heritage. It’s a stand against throwaway culture and mindless consumerism. Acquiring a new “eco-friendly” lease car every two years already produces as much CO2 during manufacturing as driving a young- or oldtimer for ten years around the world.

During the European 5000, participants travel across Europe in 14 days, producing less than half of the CO2 emissions per person compared to a single flight to Mallorca — when the total consumption is broken down per passenger.

And the lasting impact of this adventure — the cultural experiences and memories — will stay with you for years. Unlike a flight, here the journey itself is the reward.

The environment thanks!

Since all vehicles — whether electric or vintage — produce CO2 emissions, we kindly ask every team to make an ECO contribution for their chosen rally vehicle and the distance traveled.

This way, the CO2 emissions caused by each rally team can be offset by supporting climate protection projects elsewhere.
